Confession & Catechisms
|The Westminster Confession & Catechisms are the secondary standards of the OPC and contain the system of doctrine taught in the Holy Scriptures. Ordained men of the OPC vow that they sincerely receive and adopt these.|
Book of Church Order
|The Book of Church of Order contains the government, discipline, and worship of the OPC. Ordained men of the OPC vow that they approve of these.|
|The Standing Rules of the Presbytery of the Midwest comprises only such rules as are necessary to facilitate the proper handling of presbytery business. These rules must not be in conflict with the standards of the OPC as a whole.
The Policies & Guidelines on Pastor’s Salaries is an official policy guide of the presbytery.
“The whole counsel of God concerning all things necessary for his own glory, man’s salvation, faith and life, is either expressly set down in Scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deduced from Scripture: unto which nothing at any time is to be added, whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or traditions of men.” (Westminster Confession of Faith 1.6)
“God alone is Lord of the conscience, and hath left it free from the doctrines and commandments of men, which are, in anything, contrary to his Word; or beside it, if matters of faith, or worship.” (Westminster Confession of Faith 20.2)
All Other Standards are Subordinate
“The constitution of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, subordinate to the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, consists of its standards of doctrine, government, discipline, and worship, namely, its Confession of Faith, Larger and Shorter Catechisms, Form of Government, Book of Discipline, and Directory for the Public Worship of God.” (Form of Government 32.1)
